Does a soakaway cause rising damp?

Soakaways that have been installed many years ago are likely to be an issue. This is based on experience in finding the root cause of rising damp issues, and suspended timber floor decay. Really a soakaway needs flood testing, along with a CCTV drain camera survey. Once this is carried out, only then can I offer guidance on any repairs. It isn’t unusual to be offered a free damp survey, but it is highly unlikely you will get the best advice where all potential causes have been eliminated as the root cause.
