Years ago as we know buildings were ventilated by the draw of chimneys and draughty windows, and now we have seen an increase in buildings being built virtually airtight, essentiality there are no draughts. It is often the case that occupants complain that the building is making them ill, because of poor indoor air quality. A layperson may presume there building doesn’t have indoor air quality issues because they don’t have mould or condensation issues, this isn’t always the case though. Without measuring mechanical ventilation (extraction fans) and background rates (trickle vents) it isn’t possible to say how effective the ventilation is, we can also carry out long term data logging of the property to understand what is actually happening. Data logging is King, this offers a greater understanding of issues rather than snap shot surveys (survey at that specific time). Our data logging consists of measuring temperature, relative humidity, co2, differential vapour pressures, dew points, and surface temperature where required. Armed with this data, we can then provide you with graphs explaining the issue, and also a possible fix if needed.
